Saturday August 9th
Once again I was able to start the day out right: running in Germany! As soon as I left the house it started to rain. I love running in the rain. This wasn't too cold or too hard. Perfect! It was kind of early & especially with the rain there was hardly anyone out. It was wonderful!
You can't really tell in this picture but it really is raining a lot! It was fun to see more of Elmshorn, cute little place.

Getting back to Schwester Raezke's house I was soaked! She quickly offered to take my clothes over to the dryer in her sons apartment, so when I got in the shower Russ took the wet clothes. A couple minutes later as I'm washing my hair I hear a faint "Ellen, Ellen!" It was Russ, yelling into the window of the bathroom to tell me he and Schwester Raezke had locked themselves out! Hahaha I grabbed a towel real quick & ran to let them in out of the rain haha then I could go rinse the conditioner out of my hair! Schwester Raezke really laughed at that.
She had of course made us a big breakfast, eggs & bacon, breads & other meats, fruit etc. She was so cute saying not only was she glad that we liked breakfast but was still thrilled that we had stayed over and were there this morning!
She is so great. It stunk to have to say goodbye to her, she just waved and waved as we drove away. We will definitely miss her!
This picture is blurry I know. But I had to document this guy playing the accordion with another guy on the saxophone playing jazz music on the train as we went back to Hamburg. Haha of never ears jazz accordion before that's for sure!
And let's talk about the beautiful cars in Germany...they are everywhere. This one was extra special, a new kind of gorgeous BMW (which is also a hybrid) on display in the airport:
Our time in northern Germany is over...no fun to say goodbye to Hamburg. We have loved it here!
But on to the next, ROME here we come!
Wow. Italy is a beautiful place. So many of the common buildings just look so awesome! We got to our AirB&B around 7 at night. We have this little apartment, mini kitchen, bathroom & bedroom. It's basically a studio apartment, but really great! Nice and close to the metro. Plus it has a washing machine! So right away we started some laundry and then we were off.
Our first stop was the Fountain de Trevi. Everyone has told us that it is amazing, so much so that it is worth seeing twice, once in the day and once at night. Well I'm pretty sure once is definitely enough for us....it's totally under construction! Scaffolding all over the place, no water, total bummer!
Even not being able to see it much it was still impressive. You could stand in line to go on this little walkway closer to the statues...right as we decided to do it a security guard got in line like 3 people before us and said that he was the end of the line & they were closing! Strike out.
But never fear that didn't ruin our night! We had so much fun just walking around the city, honestly it is easy to be entertained here! We overused quite a few restaurants before we settled on one.
Cute little place. It even had a guy right there making the wood fire pizzas and he was even using a fresh basil plant!
